The Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) is one of the oldest and largest non-profit community service organizations in India. A community-based organization, we work collaboratively with government and non-government organizations, and partners to provide a range of programs and services to build strong people, strong families, strong communities.

YMCA is a worldwide voluntary movement for women and men with special emphasis on youth. It seeks to build a community of justice with love, peace and reconciliation. It adopts a holistic approach of developing young minds, body and spirit, looking beyond the isolated symptoms, such as unemployment and homelessness.

Founded in 1844, it works through 14,000 local associations and over 58 million members in over 127 countries. The YMCA seeks to help young people to develop their wholesome personality – the mind, body and spirit – on sound principles. The basis and model for the YMCA is the personality of Jesus Christ whose life and teachings from its guiding principles. The word ‘Christian’ in the name indicates the spirit behind the YMCA and its motivation.

Bombay YMCA, located in the western Indian city of Mumbai (formerly Bombay), is affiliated to the World Alliance of YMCAs, the Asia and Pacific Alliance of YMCAs and the National Alliance of YMCAs in India.

Bombay YMCA is one of the liveliest YMCAs in the country and caters to men, women and children of all religions, creed and cultures with no bias whatsoever. Its activities are varied and provide opportunities for growth and development for every section of society. Based in the commercial capital of India, the Bombay YMCA has ample opportunities to reach out, touch and change the lives of many of the 18 million people, especially the youth and those from the lower strata of society.

Bombay YMCA has seven Branches and eleven Centres and Departments spread over the city of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. Its range of activities includes providing accommodation & hospitality, meeting & conference facilities, outdoor games, indoor games, art & cultural activities, educational institutes & vocational training centres, intellectual pursuits, social services, camping services, etc.

Young Men’s Christian Association is a membership organization. It is cosmopolitan in its membership policies. Therefore any person, male or female, irrespective of race, religion, caste, community, class or creed, who is in sympathy with the objectives of the Association can become a member. YMCA offers its members opportunities for enriching body, mind and spirit through its various activities.
