On the direction from the Supreme Court of India, stating 'No women or children should be found on the streets without a shelter for the night', the Bombay YMCA received an opportunity to manage a shelter provided by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai. The project 'Sharan' came into a reality in 2016 with the support from the Rotary Club of Bombay. At present, it houses destitute women and children who are not only given shelter but also trained into vocational skill thus adding value to life.
